Just want to confirm here (i checked google but could only the find kashima version) - does a non kashima version of the factory fit CTD exist? I got a fork yesterday thats lowers say Factory series and FIT on it, but with non kashima stanchions. Were these stanchions swopped from a non factory fork?

As far as I know, the fit damper was only  fitted to the the performance and the factory forks.

The factory forks had CTD with trail  adjust and kashima coating.

And the performance only had CTD with the normal anodizing.

If the lowers says factory, and it is normal stanchions, then one of three things happened (in my limited knowledge):

1) the fork was fitted with a different sticker pack

2) the fork's crown assembly was replaced with the non factory version.

3) you have a performance or evolution series fork with a factory series lower.

You can get hold of Stoke Suspension / Robbie's Bicycle Concepts or Omnico (local fox agents) to verify

Is this on the new sc models? On the sc models only the factory has the kashima coating. However, the performance elite model also has the fit dampner fitted without the kashima coating. The normal performance model does not have the fit dampner.

Kashima coating only came in a couple years ago, but since it has come in all factory forks had Kashima coating. Keep in mind the only difference between performance elite forks and factory forks is the Kashima coating.

Couple of possibilities:

1. It was a factory series fork and the CSU was replaced with a non kashima version (much cheaper if you need to replace CSU).

2. It is a factory level fork released before kashima coating was introduced.

3. It is a non factory fork, with a replacement decal set that says factory on it.

That code on the back is your friend. Put through Fox's site:

2013, 32-A, FLOAT 29in F-S, 100, CTD-Remote, FIT, Shiny Blk, Custom B/W (185C) Logo, 15QR, 1.5 T, Disc, 51mm Rake, OE

Decoded:

MY2013

32A - 32mm stanchion, silver anodised. If it was Kashima this would be 32K.

100mm travel

FIT CTD with remote interface

51mm offset

OEM - so was taken from a complete bike at some point, hence the weird spec. I'd guess probably off a Spark.

I can't recall exactly which bikes, but I do remember about a year or two ago there were some mid-upper range bikes sold with Factory Fox forks (with a Fit damper) that did not have Kashima coated stanchions. I think its legit.

As Droo said, it was either Scott, or perhaps Trek that sold these (via OEM on retail bikes).

Man, nice work. Thanks. You were close on your guess, it was off a Scale. Do they mean quick release where it says 15QR? Cause its TA not QR.

Ok so now i know its the fit damper, but is it a factory series? Maybe the main fox decals were replaced but all the smaller ones were left on, explaining everything. Otherwise the OEM thing where its just specced weirdly.

So factory series is more than just the kashima coating? I thought its basically the only difference between factory and performance.

Scott, Trek, Giant and maybe one or two others.

They're usually called Performance series, but I guess if you've got enough cash to throw at it they'll put whatever label you want on.

Factory is Kashima with a FIT damper, Performance is normal ano stanchions with FIT damper, and Evolution is to be avoided at all costs - I've had 2 dampers disassemble themselves just this week.

One more thing about this fork - its got the remote lockout which i dont prefer since i like my bars as clean as possible and ive already got the dropper lever. Can a turn key lever be installed to the FIT damper or does the cartridge need to be replaced too?

You can get crown mounted levers, pretty sure I've got one in a box somewhere. Drop me a PM with a shipping address and I'll see what I can dig up.
