“After the jury’s decision, I really thought about going home but it’s one of those thoughts that goes away almost as soon as you think of it. I’ve decided to stay but now I’m curious to see if other riders will be punished in the next sprints.”

Viviani to local newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport

He might want to stay to win a stage rather...  I think the decision was just. As soon as they replayed the win from the top I thought he was going to get pinned. Coming around a rider is one thing but the Trek guy had to swerve to avoid contact and break. If you look at the blow photo the purple guy is Ackerman who's wheel Viv' cam off, is way over the road at that point and carried on further that way in the series of shots.

Would like him to bounce back today but I think it's going to be a Ewan type day. Bit of an uphill finish TDeG is controlling things and the lil' fella can climb well.

Ewan is clearly a contender for this stage.

What type of finish does Gibbons do well in? Can he give it a go today? He seems to be of similar stature...

Not sure. He always pops up at time I wasn't thinking he was going to feature. Really hope he gets some results he's been getting a few 3rds and 4ths this year but this years Giro might be have a bit too much looking at the strength of the field. There is the one stage near the end that (18?) that might give the sprinters who are left in something to do but the DD might be working for Nizzolo rather.

Another crash with 6km to go and Bora spot an opportunity to force the split. Roglic in the front group, Yates isn't there, Tommy D was caught behind the crash and is chasing alone. No news on Nibbles or the other GC guys.

The Giro crazy has kicked in!

Tommy D is injured, being pushed towards the line by team mates, blood streaming down his left leg and soft peddling to the line over 2 minutes and counting.

Ewan looked like he was going to overhaul the Movistar rider and just came up short in a thrilling finish that was over shadowed by the GC situation. Ewan hesitated to go after Carapaz and that cost him as he ran out of road.

Yates overall gc goes out to @ 35, Nibbles now @ 39s.

Landa came is 40 secs behind todays winner adding to his TT loss.

Am I seeing correctly that it happened with 2.5km to go? Is the 3km rule not in effect because of the stage profile or did I miss something?

Video of the replay (that is you are seeing there with the 2.5km to go)it was at 5.something to go.
