Awesome looking bike

How much moola?

Wasn't cheap but less than a brand new top of the range hardtail from most brands and definitely better specced - bike has nice Geometry and I have ridden it but that was the heavy 8.2 version before the new forks and brakes - I was fortunate to find some real bargains in the frame, eagle cassette and shifters - what hurt was the crank and the fork in Euros.

But now I have serious manflu so I can't even get out and give it a proper spin

I have been battling manflu for nearly 2 months - riding K2C when I though I was better was a massive setback and then staring at my new lightweight build for the last 2 weeks has been tough - Finally today I did an easy 30km loop from home.  I know people say its easier to lose weight personally that to be a weight weenie but this bike is astonishing.  The lack of weight is so obvious that on a route I know like the back of my hand I had to keep looking for a tougher gear.  I'm using a 36 on the front, hope I can fit something bigger!

So happy with this build, now just need to fine tune the gorilla in the saddle

Hard to give great feedback on the xcite fork as this bike is mostly a gravel grinder - they were awesome on the rutted gravel and when I stood to climb no bouncing about despite not being locked out. I'm sure I'll get to test them properly soon enough

Love these threads! Well done man! Such a dope build

Any comments on that fork? Haven't seen it anywhere else?

I guess its super easy to get a L HT 29er carbon under 10kg, but under 9 or less is a big task!

The fork is a German brand called German Answer - Google them, this one weighs 1130 - I've never seen one and only bought it because it was so light. So far so good and because it's essentially a gravel bike, it's never going to have to take a serious beating. I have some minor tweaking with should get me down to 7.5 and then it's done. It rides really nicely

There is 66g carbon ax lightness sadle on the hub . .

I saw this and thought about it but even though this came out so light, it always had to be strong and comfortable - my butt can just tolerate the sworks phenom at a heavy 152g. If I could test that a saddle maybe but bum before all else

Took the Open out for a proper ride today (proper for me being 70km) on the 7 Passes road here on the Garden Route.  Climbed 1100m so comfortably and this is where I really noticed the weight.  I was able to ride up a gear with the same effort but increased speed.  A few creaks from the crank/BB area - wondering if maybe the adapters needed to piece these lightweight components together have a bearing on that - this is a problem for me, I've sold cars because I couldn't find a rattle - fortunately despite selling Spez, my LBS are super cool and have invested a lot of time and effort into my project so I will pop in on Monday and see if they can make it silent

I didn't have the balls to try the carbon AX lightness saddle I bought on the Hub.  My bum however was very impressed with the second hand Sworks Phenom saddle  - luckily the branding is minimal.  The Carbon one would reduce the overall weight by 98g.  I will test it soon.
