Polo Bike Rack

I am looking for a bike rack option to fit on the trunk.

Does any body here use a solution like that on a Polo Sedan.

Want to investigate options before I go the tow bar route

I used a Saris Bones 3 on the trunk of my Porsche Boxster. I imagine it would work just fine on your Polo sedan.

The bottom feet sat on the plastic bumper where the number plate is. I think it would sit on a metal part of your car which is better. No damage was caused but I only had one road bike on it ever.

Not sure where you're based but I'm selling mine (to declutter my garage) in the bikehub classifieds.

Thanks, I know the Saris Bones, also used it way back on my Opel Meriva.  I spoke to the guys at Thule and they say they do not know of a trunk rack that will work on a Polo Sedan, the guys said he think it might be due to the space between the boot and the body of the car.

I cannot think that there's nothing that's work, so I am hoping for someone to tell me they used something on their polo.  I'll check out the Saris again and your add.

Thanks

Yeah, the guys at Thule said the same thing to me. I proved them wrong. That being said, a towbar-mounted rack is far better if you're using it often. Any boot-mounted rack is a bit of a hassle to put on and take off.

I think it'll work - the Boxster boot is quite small (about 50cm in length) and it fitted fine.

I got a towbar fitted to my Vivo for R1800 2 years back. Found a guy on gumtree.

Thule towbar rack was the best investment I've made.

I agree, but at R4k it's a little pricy

Thule and Holdfast make a clip on that attaches to the boot

Yes, that is why I phoned Thule, but according to them that won't work on a Polo Sedan

I have used one of these Holdfast ones on the boot of a BMW, VW Jetta and a Polo Sedan. They are fully adjustable and less than R2k new.

That Thule is expensive from what I have seen. Would be cheaper to fit a towbar and get a second hand platform rack...

Thanks, will look at that as well.  The towbar will set me back at least 4k.  So it does get expensive, especially if one can buy one of these rack son the hub for under 2k

If you have an Autostyle anywhere near you might be an idea to go and have a look at their website

Lots of options and some for under R1k. Not sure on quality though. Never heard of Evo Bike racks
