Did he use the Gatorskins and how did they perform on the gravel roads?

28mm on the back and 32 mm on the front, pumped to about 70 psi. Not a single puncture or tyre issue at all on rougher than usual dirt. They had a lot of rain the week before so many washed out places. The big Gatorskins have really become my go-to tyre for rough stuff.

Hi DJR

Why 28 in back and 32 in front? Purely rear clearance?

I've done wider at the rear and narrower in front, because of the extra comfort/plushness the extra volume at the rear provides - 25 at back and 23 in front.

Have to admit still experimenting with this though.

I simply fitted the biggest tyre the clearance allowed. I would have liked to go even bigger if I could, but that combination works well. For tar this is overkill, but on dirt like at Eroica it helps a lot to have the extra volume.

I'm back on the road and find that the Cannibals' very forgiving ride, makes it a lot nicer on the recovering shoulder that does NOT like the bumps and road vibration. The fat takkies also help!
