Hi everyone

I'm looking for a 40KM and a 80KM route leaving from Lower Campus UCT. I would do the 40KM route during the week and the 80KM route on the weekends. I'd aim to leave around 5:30. Please let me know about any routes.

Road or dirt?

Road route mapping from your location should be easy but taxi avoidance will be tricky.

Perhaps mention how much climbing/elevation you want to include

From Lower Campus, up Klipper Rd which will take you to Newlands avenue then go up Constantia Nek? Not sure what the distance is but you could also play around in the Constantia area to add distance to your ride?

Then down into Hout Bay and up Suikerbossie and along into Camps Bay & Sea Point and back - thats about 50km

OR

from the Nek to hout bay over chappies

Then either Black hill (preferable) or Ou Kaapse Weg

and back along Main road or Spaanschemat River Road (M42)

Thats about 90km

Thanks, I've been up Constantia Nek coming from Constantia to Newlands. It was full of cars when I did it but that was around 9.

You need to do it as early as possible. It's a main route to the M3. I used to do it most week mornings after 5am and it was very quiet. Any later and you'd get the early birds going to work trying to beat the rest of the traffic.
