Just an update. While cooking dinner last night I put the brake pads in the oven as per the suggestions on here. The bad news is I forgot about it and burnt the chicken, the good news is the pads came out smoking and when I put them on the bike this morning no more squeal! I'm quite amazed actually thanks for the advice chaps!

I'm sorry to hear about the chicken. Hope you didn't have to eat salad on its own.

Ps: grab a can of disc brake cleaner spray from your local Agri or midas. They are way cheaper than at most be shops, and do the same job. You sound like a hands-on person, so you will probably need them in future again.

Going to try clean them first and then bake them. My oven isnt working so going to put them in the microwave on high for a few minutes.

Jirre, my ***.

You're a funny guy, and I'm not being sarcastic. I dig your humour.

You can tell you ride mtb and not road
