Garmin Software Woes

My input:

Edge 520 - Nov '15. Still going strong. Battery life is starting to degrade. It has frozen a few times and required a soft reset. No other hardware of software malfunctions to type an angry email about.

Forerunner 15 (x2) circa 2014 - No longer in use. Tough as nails. Will forever recommend this as a starter watch (even though it's out of production).

Forerunner 30 (x2) (wife) 2017-2018 - Straps kept breaking. Pretty solid otherwise. Must've been the dish-washing gloves.

Forerunner 935 - Dec '17 - The best multi-sport watch there ever was. Not too sold on the optical HR thought.

Old & new speed and cadence sensors - bulletproof. Not a foot wrong ever.

Premium HR Strap - starting to give issues, even with regular washing.

But a polar soft strap, sorts problem out and is much cheaper than the Garmin unit.

Other connection problem - switch on your location services, sometimes it sorts things out.

Okay. I found the solution to my 520 sync problem.

Apparently there is a known GC problem on iOS for the 520 (with updated 520 firmware).

When trying to sync to GC, the 520 will either freeze up, or just does not sync.

It appears to be an issue with the incident detection and emergency contacts. A workaround is to de-active incident detection, and delete the contacts on the 520; re-connect phone and 520, sync, then re-activate and reload contacts.

Garmin will have a GC fix in the next app update for iOS
