Hot Spots. Foot Pains

Make sure the midpoint between 1st and 5th metatarsal is directly over the middle of the pedal axle. That should spread the load a bit more evenly.

Hello Guys

Please advise on Foot Pains.

Hot Spots and Pressure Points.

Around the Bone on the outside of Foot.

Is there any way to stop this problem?

I will appreciate your feedback.

Thank You

David

It sounds like your shoes are too restrictive in the forefoot area. Either too narrow or just not sufficient volume to accommodate your foot as it spreads out when load is applied.

Consider wider shoes

Additional to above, I've even found that, with my shoes, tightening the middle velcro strap first can cause issues...

I now tighten the ratchet first, then just close the middle velcro strap, no tension.. As the foot moves under pressure it's no longer strained..

Changed my foot discomfort massively.

I do this as well. Make a huge difference.

Any advice on "affordable" wider shoe brands available locally?

I've heard lakes are great. I personally swear by Bont.. Even the budget models are brilliant and they just have the best design for a wider foot. The whole range is heat mouldable too so you really can get a perfect fit, as long as you've started with the right size.

Hard to find locally tho, so I was pointed towards lake when it comes replacement time.

Bont isn't available locally anymore.

I whole heartedly recommend Lake Shoes (speak to Kim@lakeshoes.co.za).

I've gone through many shoe brands and settled on Lake. Bont is also awesome and the Lake and Bont last concept is very similar. (The last is the general shape that is used to form the shoe around).

Both cater for a wide volumous fore foot , not just toe box (aka Specialized, Shimano and Sidi), whilst keeping the heel narrower than others high volume models. This llows th eshoe to grip your heel, a problem I experience with every other brands wide or high volume models.

Lake caters for nearly every foot shape.

Lakes start at around R2000-00 for the MX1.

I have the MX237 which is a brilliant shoe.

I used to get little callouses on my fourth toe from the little toe being squeezed into it in other brand shoes. Those have disappeared since I started wearing Lake
