Hi all

So curious what others views are on the 2 combinations.

Some Thaba Technical riding,

Maxxis Ardent Race 2.35 Front

Maxxis Ardent Race 2.2 Rear

vs

Vittori Barzo 2.35 Front

Vittori Suguaro 2.2 Rear.

Fitted to Carbon 29er rims with a ID:25mm

My personal experience is Vittori, I like them, but was suggested I look at the Maxxis.

I have used both - Ardent in the past (2000km before selling the wheels) and currently on the Vittori - I have Mezcal and Barzo front and rear (EDIT:  the Mezcal = rear).

This set of wheels also have about 2000km on it. The Maxxis was on a set of Easton EA70 and the Vittori's are on a set of Cobalts.

Both of which were 2.35's and the Vit's feel less grippy if I go too close to 2 bar (I like the tires to be hard). This can also be the rims, they're fairly stiff and do feel jittery at speed but from a grip point of view I lean towards the Maxxis.

I have an Ardent Race 2.35 3c exo tr with 9600 Km and it's still good as a back tyre.

I ran it about 4000 km as a front tyre no grip problem at all.

Pressure Front 1.4 bar rear 1.8 bar.

Sidewall Still looks good with no cuts at all.

My go to setup for the last couple of years has been.

I tend to prefer the Barzo front (2.25 current build), it's a nice chunky tyre, normally run it at 1.5bar, rear I run the Suguaro, in the speed direction, at 1.6-1.8 bar.

New bike will have a boost fork so going Barzo 2.35 front, and same saguaro 2.2 rear.
