Cassette for indoor training wheel

Hi all

I am upgrading to 11 speed on my TT bike, I have an indoor training wheel - do I need to get an 11 speed cassette for that training wheel as well? It currently has a 10 speed cassette on it.

I have got myself an 11 speed cassette for my normal wheel and I am wondering if I need another one for the indoor wheel.

Thanks for the help

yes

the new shifter is set for the width of the NARROWER gears (or rather the narrower gap between gears) on the new 11 speed cassette.  It may work on the outer edges of the old 10 speed cassette, but you wont ever be able to allign it with the mid range gears.

EDIT - the above applies to MTB's.  Not sure to what extent it applies to road bikes ...

If you free ride or race on the indoor trainer then yes.

If you do structured workouts only in ERG mode then you could get away with keeping the 10sp cassette as you are only using one cog on the cassette.

Personally i would change to a 11sp cassette anyway.
