Raleigh RC 2000 Seat Post Size?

Long story but I inherited a Raleigh RC 2000 in very good condition. The old model with an eight speed set up but really very good condition and suitable for using on the IDT, amongst other things.

 

The only thing is that it came without a seatpost and saddle. Now I need to try to source a seatpost, preferably used.

 

Can anybody tell me what seatpost diameter/size fits this particular bike?

 

Either that or I will have to try to measure it with a vernier – if I can find my vernier!

Very good chance of it being a 27.2mm.

There's been so different models of Raleigh over the years, even the very first ones, but I agree with Mr Dampf, probably a 27.2.

 

Before buying one, just measure it. Even if you don't have your vernia, a ruler should suffice. Next size up is 31.4, so you will easily spot the difference.
