Hi. This is my first "New Topic" on leHub  :)

I want to upgrade my handlebars - Older (probably around 2013) Giant Connect alu. I'm building up an older frame, so this gives me a reason to upgrade the components on my current bike. At least, this way I have approval from my SO  :D

I'm looking around for good deals and was wondering which bars the good people on the Hub prefer.

I'm currently looking at the Fizik Cyrano 00 and Token Arsenal carbon road bar (as there are pretty good deals on both atm). Anyone own one of these or can make other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

There's good deals on the Easton EC70 aero as well as some older ZIPP aero bars without internal routing.

KeanBikes.co.za also have some nice bars in stock. Their website isn't working so reach out on faecebook or Intragram.

Would you rather go the aero route?

Bars are personal preference. I see no need for a carbon bar on any of my bikes - road, full sus or GG - but they do have other carbon bits. Had an S-Works bar on my Swift and felt stiffer/harsher than my Ritchey WCS alu bar (which I kept for my Cervelo - sold the s-works bar with the frame).

I find the price does not justify it as there are generally no weight savings to be had unless you go really top end. Aero may be a justification for the looks.

The best bar is the one that is the most comfortable so look at reach and drop numbers to see what will work for you. I really like the Ritchey WCS Logic Curve - also comes in carbon but is very expensive.

I changed from a Giant Alu bar to a Giant Carbon bar last year, 130g difference between the 2.

Thanks for the input - it helps.

I've had mixed feedback from various people, so it makes sense that it boils down to personal preference. I think I should just bite the bullet once. The looks generally don't bother me that much, but I'm definitely after a more comfortable ride. That being said, almost everyone says that they feel the carbon bars absorb road noise better.

I'll go have a look at the Ritchey too.

This is going to a personal preference thing.

I opted for the EC70 aero because I like the shape of the drops. Its the only bar I could find that had a comfortable drop position while allowing the aero shaped top to be level and not rest in a positive lift position. Its shaoped slightly differently to the alloy bar hence I ended up with the carbon aero. It looks cool too.
