update:

Took my not even 2 month old Nuvi 710 to Avnic trading in northriding yesterday.

They did some tests on it and informed me that the Unit had failed:

Touch Screen Test

Speaker test

Satellite Reception test

wow, and i never abused the unit .... sad to think that a unit makes it out of the factory with so many faults.

I also played with the idea that the Cape Union Mart guy at Woodlands Boulevard possibly sold me a demo unit .... since he had "opened" the box in the back because he was changing the SD for me ...

Anyways, Avnic have promised to deliver my new replacement unit to the office in 3-4 working days.  i hope they can do it, because another lady there complained that it took them over 13 Days to deliver .... well lets see ..

Yup I always make sure it is tighly sealed. I found thta if I rode in heavy rain the unit would still work fine for a few days then it would start to fog up inside with condensation. Within a few weeks after that it would become erratic and not respond to buttons etc. Both units had pretty much the same symptoms.

One benefit of the Garmin swap out is that they send a complete box with all HR straps and sensors etc. so I now have several spares.

lucky I have ordered *2 month ago* a chest strp + transmiter *i have the copy of the order * although since then no reply from the Official retailer who represents Garmin in the Nelspruit area ..... so i have a Garmin 305 speed+cadence but unfortunately my HR not working, well has already being used for 3 years

Bye bye nuts... Jason is not in today. Ouch, and I have never met Jason

I also got confused as I always see Nathan, not Jason. I asked Nathan to post here and I think he told Jason to do it as he is one of the big boys there.

To be fair:

  1. You handed it in to a dealer and not Garmin (Avnic)
  2. The dealer might still have it and Jason is waiting for it, b4 he calls you.
  3. The workshop might get it and do what they have to, without Jason even knowing it came in.
I might give you one nut, as I was talking from experience (with regards to service), but I have also gone directly to them and never through a dealer.

So give me the benefit here....PLEASECry

You can't offer your nuts and then set the terms and conditions once they are due to disappear.

I am busy sharpening tool "a" as above. I am not sure what "b" and "c" are used for but I am sure I will figure it out once I have completed my task with said tool "a"
