oops, I dont think I'm going to get it approved now.

ABSA came back and asked for more information on the damage, I then sent an email to centurion asking for this but at the same time slated ABSA.

But, not sure how, the email went to ABSA instead.

I feel your pain with ABSA insurance and their assesors. Also had an issue with them when my gate motor...their so called assors told them that my control board was blown because of surge damage and the insurance excludes surge damage... I rejected the claim and asked centurion to investigate...the result was a blown fuse and nothing to do with surge damage.

This claim with ABSA was the last of a list of claims to them that have been unsuccessful, added to the list from the rest of the family made me decide to change HOC insurance.

Got a quote from the same company that my home and household contents is insured with, worked out to around R100 per month cheaper for the same cover.

So I started the process to cancel with ABSA, since ABSA takes 1 year premium upfront I wanted to use the refund to buy the new motor.

Nope, we refund back to your bond account as that is where we debited from. Doesnt matter that I've got cheque and credit cards etc. with them.

When asked how to get the funds out of bond the reply was I need to contact the bond department. Zero help.

I will stick with them untill year end just because of this nonsense. To get your hand on that funds you will most propably need to go to the branch fill in forms to have that funds transferred to your cheque account.

ABSA's systems integration is one of the worst I came accross nothing seems to be logical. You either accept it as it is or move...no use to tell them their system is to complex.

ABSA always reminds me of a government/municipal office when I walk in. Queues separated by rope, tellers behind glass windows.

I have been with ABSA for as long as I can remember, so it was all I knew. Then many years back when we decided that the wife needs some sort of credit history incase something happens to me, we walked into a few of the other banks and I was totally amazed at the setups. They were nothing like the "stadsraad" kind of setup i was used to.

And that is why one doesn't bank with ABSA - only ever heard terrible things about them

Finally got my new D5 Smart during the week, installed this weekend.

What a machine.

The longest part of the installation was getting the height 100% as we retrofitted to an existing base plate.

The whole motor comes apart like a lego set, even the wiring is made to just clip off instead of grub screw.

Setup once everything was in place was really simple, download the app, app and motor talk to each other, follow the wizard to set bump stops etc. Then setting up the remotes you hit the button on each remote, it recognises the remote, you then tell it you want all the remotes setup the same, setup what you want each button to do and boom, all done.

And this motor is FAST, like very Fast.

Very happy I spent the bit extra and got the latest.
