Beginner female rider looking for advice

Hi ladies and gents,

 

I’m a beginner rider looking at purchasing a mountain bike. There are two options that seem appealing at the moment. A 2016/2017 Momsen AL129 brand new (old stock obviously for R6500 OR Surge Slingshot 2020 for R5500. I can’t really find any reviews on Surge bicycles online. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Momsen al129, as the surge seems like a game or makro special. Momsen is also a proudly south african brand with a good reputation.

What components? Momsen AL 129 is a nice bike - just sold my wifes. But it's all about the forks, wheels, components etc and not about the brand and frame.

There is nothing wrong with the Momsen Al129, there are also some good options in the classifieds depending where you are located.

Hanli, depending upon where you are located, you may do better buying a used bicycle. With the help of somebody who knows what they are doing.

I am not sure what your total budget is but be sure to allow some budget towards decent shorts to ride with. Depending where you live but if you can, do physically try them on rather than buy online.  I found that  Cycle Lab have quite nice ladies shorts.
