Does anybody know what the weight difference is between the Ralleigh RC3000 alloy and RC7000 alloy frames are?  Propably not much but I am curious.   The RC 3000 comes with a carbon fork (like most bikes nowadays) but the RC7000 comes out with carbon seat stays as well.  And not sure if there is a general improvement on the rest of the RC7000 frame compared to the RC 3000.

The Ralleigh websites only show the frame geometry info and not the weight specs.  I suppose the other differences on the bikes are the components that they put on it.

Thanks TNT1.  I now know that basic arithmics seem not to be a problem to you but I suppose comprehension test must have been more challenging at school for you smiley2.gif.  Nonetheless did bring up a smile on this side of cyberspace.

Well I did ride my RC3000 to death (or at least a small crack into it) and Pro Bike agreed to change the frame.  I was however offered a RC 7000 frame (Alloy) for an extra R1400.00 which I accepted.  Just curious to know if it was money well spent.

the raleigh bikes for 2006 show the weights:

RC3000 - 9.5kg

RC7000 - 8.8kg

I doubt the frames have changed much - the RC3000 is probably exactly the same now, just different paint.

I reckon most of the 700g difference is between the tiagra and Ultegra groupset.

The rear triangle is so small I dont think there is significant weight saving between the two

I reckon you should feel a difference with the carbon stays. Just don't ask JB' date=' he'll tell you that you are  not allowed to feel anything on a bike, but I still reckon you will.

You might have a bike fit or saddle problem if you stop feeling things in some places.

HAHA! LOL!!! Brilliant...

Yes, I had a RC3000 which used to get laughed at, but still rode it to sub-3

If I remember correctly, my saving was roughly half a kilo, (the fork was a full carbon and weighed about 180g less than the RC3000s fork), much more comfortable ride also.

Well, I am not the most informed bike rider on this site but I can tell you, she is very nice.  Much lighter (noticeable difference) and softer ride.  Well worth the money.
