Steerer / Frame compatibility advice - Niner MCR steel

I think I pretty much know the answer but is there any way to fit a 1 1/8 - 1 5 tapered steerer fork into a Niner MCR 9 Steel with a straight head tube but wondered if I'd missed some trick.

MCR 9 has a 34mm head tube from what I can see, so you're out of luck.

You can get a straight steerer fitted to a tapered fork, but it does come at a price...

I mailed Niner about this sometime back when I wanted to upgrade a fork on my MCR and the answer was a definite no. They were unfortunately also dead set against fitting a fork with more than 100mm of travel to that frame. I still regret selling that bike!

Out of interest, what fork are you looking to fit?
