Jonkershoek ride

I'm going down to jonkershoek for the 3-5 of November and i'm not sure how safe it's riding alone there, what routes is the best to ride for a decently skilled 18 year old with a hardtail, if it helps i ride van gaalen red and black routs every week 2-3 times

Perfectly safe solo. Of course the usual "if you fall" argument stands.

Head through the gate, first left and follow the Irish Climb up to either the top of Irish 7 or 8 and come down Armageddon. You can go to the other wise of the valley and hid Red Phoenix too then Firehut across the valley. Trailforks will show you the exact routes to the last two and all three of those are pretty simple to ride down. Sure if you're trying to gun it it'd be tough, but to just have a rad time out and chill down the trails, no prob.

I agree, I grew up cycling at Van Gaalens and moved to Stellenbosch. Be ready for some climbing, those Magaliesburg mountains are hills in comparison. 

 

As Thermophage said, through the gate go up Irish to 7 or 8 then down Armageddon. I do it on my hardtail as well, and you can roll over everything. You are tired at the bottom after all the shaking but well worth it. Then go across the valley, up bosluis and go down firhut. Firhut is fun and flows lekker.

100% safe if you ride within your limits. Even to a relative numpty on a mtb like me.

I basically did the enduro two weeks ago blind and didn't die.

In terms of safety from ‘external factors’…one way in, one way out. You feel like you are in a closed off park there.
