I want to buy a pair of Gaerne shoes online and I'm hearing mixed opinions on the sizing. Some say it compares to Shimano. Others say they run narrow. Does anyone have experience with them?

I have two pairs of the stilo. Both 43. The newer one is slightly tighter than the older ones.....and not because of it being newer but more the cut....similar to sworks mtb cut I thinkĀ

I've got a pair of their top end road shoes, I'd definitely say they're narrow and even slightly smaller than the equivalent size in other brands. If I was to buy a replacement pair I'd definitely size up.

Compared to my Catlike & Specialized MTB shoes, they run small for the size.

As an aside, I'd never buy another pair of LG shoes. They fell apart within a year with max 3000km on them. Support from the agents was really poor.

By LG do you mean Louis Garneou?

Yup, Louis Garneau. Awesome light weight road shoes, if you're not paying for them...or at least that's been my experience.

Both soles peeled off from the uppers...in the end given the lack of support from the agents I used an epoxy glue and stuck them back together. Done it a couple of times now.

They run narrow like Giro and Sidi

Just my opinion here and this is based on my experience over the years with different brands and different types of apparel. I never trust online reviews or recommendations from anyone anymore. Honestly, weā€™re all different and our anatomy is different. How the shoe fits on my foot differs from the next person and Iā€™ve shot myself in the foot multiple times listening to people telling me go half size up or size down. If you cant physically try on the shoe yourself, just take your true size. Unless the manufacturer themself specifically advise you to size up, i wouldnā€™t do it.

Ok thanks. Would you recommend upsizing half a size?

it depends on the shape of your feet. They simply do not fit me in any size. Toe box is too narrow even a full size up and then the heel is too big.

try the guidelines published here and what applies to you:Ā https://lakecycling.co.za/size-guide/
