abcdefg Posted March 5, 2023 Share Hi I am looking for a bike for my 9-year-old daughter (135cm in Height). I'm assuming a 24-inch should be a good size, with 20 inch too small? She is still learning to ride; her current bike has training wheels and is now also too small. I am looking for something decent but not too expensive Are any of these options decent? Or other suggestions in the same price range? https://www.cyclelab.com/product/1016400-bike-jnr-girls-marvel-livi-v-brake https://solomonscycles.co.za/products/avalanche-alphaone-24″-2020-girls/ https://www.cyclelab.com/product/26159910057-used-junior-bikes-trek-jnr-mt-220-24--blk-red-wh

JacBrand Posted March 5, 2023 Share 24" is the correct size. Get a bike with good geometry, riding position and light (er) weight. My 9-year-old rides a Scott Contessa. The riding position inspires confidence and she handles the bike with ease. The top tube is slightly lower which helps them straddle the bike. She does however struggle with the twist shifters. I set the brake levers closer to the bars and made sure the brakes work well. I would not go for the Marvel or Avalanche bikes. I paid the school fees. Rather get a known brand that makes proper kids bikes (Scott, Giant, Titan etc) Edited March 5, 2023 by JacBrand Theunissa

Best upgrade we did to his bike 👍 gerriemtb and Theunissa

My daughter has one. She just ride to school and back daniel races. They avalanche and hades both have tourney on. Avalanche has 3*6, though. I can't fault the avalanche. But once that rotary shifter gets a bit older, dusty, and stiff .... no thank you. Theunissa
RobynE Posted March 5, 2023 Share My daughter (8) has the Titan Calypso 26 with the 24 frame - she absolutely loves it. It gives her lots of room for growth. She went from a Mongoose BMX to the Titan and didn’t miss a beat. The Tektro disc brakes are brilliant and the bike hasn’t given us a moment’s trouble. I think she’ll have it for a few years at least. Well worth the money at ~R8k. Only bugger is that it’s hard to fit a bottle cage for a regular size bottle. The Topeak bar slash seatpost cage does the trick nicely. Titan Racing Bikes and ChrisF
