great thread guys, I have decided to convert my HT to a gravel with drop bars, ( mullet set up) busy getting the various bits and bobs.

I have also entered the Around The Pot 60miler as my first event,

Got some Pirelli Cinturato 45 M's based on some recommendations on a few threads.

40 upfront

11 - 42 at the back - hope I am not under geared - I am not the smallest fella!

I did ATP 100 miler last year in the mud on 42/42, was fine. The biggest hill I remember wasn't on the 60miler course, so you're probably ok.

The last 10km is a cr*pshoot regardless of your gearing 🤣

Interesting. Looking forward to see how this turns out.

For some context, I'm doing a 3 day, 500km bikepacking trip next weekend, about 50% smooth gravel and 50% paved - I will use my 'all road' bike for it. Three weeks later, I'm doing a 4 day bikepacking race, and I will use my hardtail. I'll be overbiked, but comfy AF. A month after that, I'm doing a one day gravel race that is almost entirely on gravel, some of it pretty chunky, and for that I will use my other gravel bike. I've ridden them all enough to know what they're best at, and I love that I get to nerd out about it sometimes.

4day bikepack race.... @Cardio Goth tell us more!

It was a 620km race through rural Sweden - unfortunately I had to scratch after a really good first day - 255kms in, on track to finish in the top 25. I rode the last four hours of day one with serious knee pain (likely from the heavy bike and undulating route), and started day 2 after 3 hours of sleep with not being able to ride up the first climb, so I scratched. It was pretty heartbreaking to have to collect my bike bag at the finish without actually finishing, but an amazing experience nonetheless.
