Hi
Yes you can switch off all the LED bars. I dont use them. You can change them to HR or Speed. But I tried and don't like it.

@love2fly glad you came right. hope it serves you well. the price of those roam V1 bundles is very attractive, although i only hear bad things about the TICKR straps.

yip, you can turn the lights off, and sounds too. i don't want my device beeping and flashing, and its kinda annoying in a race/group ride where everyones device is beeping endlessly.

when you have navigation on, you can mute it in the route info menu. another handy feature is the new dark mode, it just makes reading in bright sunshine easier

Thanks. I'll have a look at dark mode but even in the std look it's way better than my Garmin. Looking FWD to getting it out of "slot machine" mode. I've heard the new Ticker straps are better but at 4k you don't get a strap. Mine have served me kind of ok although I've just lost one to a broken press stud after 4 years.

@love2fly I have a friend in the market for a gps, on the lower price range. how are you, and any other people with experience enjoying the Roam V1.
he mainly wants proper mapping and climb data. as far as i am aware, the Roam V1 has climb finder?

he's maxed out at 4k, so its between the new Magene, the Garmin 130 and the Roam V1. I can't bring myself to recommend ANY garmin, and the 130 doesnt have the 2 features he wants, and the Magene reviews are few and far between, and not overwhelmingly positive.

Hi there

Not sure about Climb Finder but afaik it can display climbs ahead but I may be wrong. I love the buttons and large display, but especially the slightly Matt glass which reads WAY better than my 530. It seems as if it will only upload rides if the app is open and connected via Bluetooth but that night be a setting. Rand for Rand I'd choose the Element. Cyclelab had the V1 at a good price.

thank you, that helps a lot. sounds like its pretty much the same things that i like about my Bolt, but at half the price. no brainer.

I am using the V1.
If you load a ride (gps file) it will show all the climbs on the route, how long, elevation to go etc etc.
Mapping works very well. I never had problems with routes etc, re-routing if you go wrong way or take other roads in town.

I am very happy with mine.

Contact Cyclab. They had the Wahoo V1 Roam on special for about R4000. Not sure if they still have stock.

I bought a 2nd hand Roam V1 and have it for about 2 years now. Not a issue with software or battery life. Doubt I'll ever go back to garmin ever. Wahoo units seem to just last.
