Should we call it the World has been wanna be champs?

Is this the Benoni World champs everyone is talking about. I believe Vernie is also training for it. That is of course Vernie Koekemoer.

that's not fair to those who actually work very hard to race in this event and believe me, I know first hand how much effort these people go to. As was pointed out earlier, this is a non-selection event and anyone is free to enter.

Worlds at St Johan is very competitive. do yourself a favour and check the results of the TT for 70+ age category, they average over 40kph for their distance.

Chris Botha is a wheelsucker' date=' and wheelsucked the WHOLE race at SA's, made one feeble attempt to jump the small group 4 km's from the finish, and then sprinted for the line, with fresh legs, because he did not have the guts or the balls to take part in the race."[/quote']

And that my fellow hubbers we call tactic. He won the race...mission accomplished.

You're missing the point here Mud Dee, I'm not for one moment denying that Chris won SA's or contesting that his victory is either worthy or not, I'm merely responding to an incorrect statement made that 1. Chris is not a wheelsucker, and 2. that had he been racing in the big races up in Gauteng, he would have kicked serious ass, and then pointing to the facts of the matter at hand at SA's to substantiate...

Cruxie,

Maybe check the guys past results once??

I had the pleasure of racing with him. One one occasion his team teamed up with mine for a Team time trial well on that day Chris and only chris powered us to victory.

If he's fit he's bloody strong, just in the days didn't have the real race intelligence.

He rides among the best of cape Towns Elite and kick's all their ass from time to time.

Seems you didn't know him and still sad he gave your boys a good beating YOUR ERROR YOUR PROBLEM

I'm not sad that he beat my boys or anyone for that matter, and don't have a problem with it, I've been involved with cycling long enough to understand that things work like that, and that often, the best or strongest guys end up with nothing, and that's part of racing, look at John Lee Augustyn today, he most certainly deserve much better than to finish 5 mins down in 35th place.

And I never doubted his (Chris) pedigree either, but Auctionlamb made the comment that he's not a wheelsucker, and that he would kick the Jhb Vets asses bigtime, well I can tell you that on the day at SA's, All he did the whole race long, was wheelsuck, and the other races where he rode up north, well he didn't kick anyone's ass then either.

I was there and I didn't seen any ass kicking, only wheelsucking, and that is what this is all about, not wheter or not he's a deserving winner, or strong or talented or whatever, it's about (not having seen) kicking of the Jhb Vets asses and (having seen) wheelsucking
