It doesn't have the feature to connect a power meter, see the specs https://www.garmin.com/en-ZA/p/641121#specs, it will only do speed and cadence sensors for cycling

Okay thanks i see, but speaking in theory should it still not be able to connect to the watch but only display speed/cadence?

It is a running watch with basic cycling mode, so will pair with a separate speed and cadence sensor, like this https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/product/garmin-speed-sensor-2-and-cadence-sensor-2/

You can try this, done on other garmin watches that don't have the ability to connect a power meter similar to your F45 https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2021/05/cycling-power-vivoactive.html.  It might work.

Power runs on a different protocol than speed or cadence, even if that data is also included. The forerunner 35 could only do speed and cadence on different senors, the combo did not work. But it seems like they added that for the 45. You can check on this website for the protocols supported by each device https://www.thisisant.com/directory. I think the Forerunner 255 is the cheapest with power capabilities last time I checked.
