Edge 520 plus & Varia 515 - sound change

Hi Guys

Please could you assist.

The standard sound setting on the Varia515 is that lengthy "tune" which might be irritating to some when riding in a bunch.

I've read that on some Edge and other brands, the unit can be set to change this "tune" to a single beep.

I have a Edge 520 plus.

Can anyone with the same paired setup, please advise if this sound setting change is applicable to the Edge 520 plus.

3. Go to settings / Alerts and play around, from what i remember from my 520 this is where you change the sound settings

If I am not mistaken this can be configured using the Garmin Varia app.

madmarc - google not so friendly to me, only seems to associate with posh higher spec Edge units. Chat GPT, not fully trusting of AI. Settings - I've not unboxed and paired yet, would like the option of returning unit if not able to change tones?

Hi Fanievb - thanks, I saw this but was hoping someone on the hub had first hand experience with the Edge 520+. But, this video looks is promising.

I have the 530.

 

I have switched the beeper off on the 530.

 

 

Yes, to really tweak these units you need to play with the phone app.

I used to have the 520 and if i remember you cannot change the tones you can only turn them off or on - on the device itself - I just checked my 830 its the same

Thanks madmarc, though I think these sound settings only apply to the actual edge unit when pressing buttons and it beeps or not. This is different to the sounds when paired with a varia, where hopefully additional sound option setting are revealed. Thanks again for your input though.

Access the varia via the headunit and change the setting
