guestemated ballpark price for a 12x sunrace upgrade kit

Out of interest, what would a ball park figure be to upgrade a 3x9 system to a 1x12? I get prices for SRAM and Shimano, but nothing on Sunruace?

Sunrace only provide the cassette.

 

So you stil need the trigger shifter, derailure, cable, chain, as well as a narrow wide front ring.

 

Last time I did such an upgrade an "upgrade kit" worked out cheaper than buying the components.

Rather do a 1x11 ugrade.  You still have the same 11 tooth as the small gear.  A 1x11 system is much more reliable than a cheap 1x12.

Also keep an eye on CWC / CL (Chris Wilemse and Cycle Lab), they often have nice specials.

 

 

PS - the more expensive 1x12 setups run a different freebody, "micro spline" for Shimano, this allows them to go down to 10 teeth.  Now the upgrade hurts your wallet ...

You can get HG compatible 12-speed cassettes. I think Sunrace does these and the cheaper Shimano and SRAM cassettes do too. They don’t have the 10-tooth cog.
