Hey. Picked up a used Kickr core with a 12 speed SRAM cassette. Included was the road bike thru axel and spacer and the spacers for MTB and thru axel. The previous owner had a Scott 12 speed MTB similar to mine (mine has 12 speed Shimano). He demonstrated that it worked fine.  When i mounted mine, it was not sounding great. I took it to my local bike shop and they require to buy a spacer kit. These spacer kits are expensive. For those of you that use an MTB, did you have to buy a separate spacer kit than what was provided? if so, is there an alternate option?

"KICKR CORE is compatible with 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 speed cassettes, plus the Zwift Click and Cog, to align with your bike's groupset."

There is a further link lower down to check bike compatibility with more detail about hubs as well.

If your trainer has the spacers that came with it, you should be able to fit it to the trainer whether your bike is 142mm or 148mm rear spaced. Confirm which spacing your bike has and fit the spacers accordingly. Use your bike’s through axle to do everything up. You might need to play with the limit and b-tension screws to get everything humming nicely.

I have a 12x148mm thru axle which takes adaptors C and E. The adaptor for the Cassette screws right in and almost flush to the Cassette. I can unscrew it half way but I'm not sure if it's meant to be like that and if it's safe.

Thanks. I think the correct adaptors are on and bike is compatible, just need to understand why it's not working as it should.

So called Wahoo support. They said the kickr core only supports Sram Nx 12 speed cassette which luckily mine has. Recommended to buy the set of adaptors but they don't sound confident that it will work.  Bike and trainer sitting at the bike shop as I need to make a decision. My worry is that it pushes the frame out a bit and my derailer is an issue when I need to ride out. Adaptors are 799 excl delivery. Really stuck with this decision. Here's a video if anyone can make this easier for me.

Speak to the guy who sold you the trainer and get the adaptors. Or ask him to pay for them if he said everything was included. Failing that, paying for a set of adaptors so you can use a trainer you have already bought seems like small school fees to pay

He provided the C and D adapters which I'm using. These adaptors are separate and are not included. I don't mind paying for it, if it will fix the problem and not instead give me a new problem on the road. Just want to make sure.

I didn't have the same problem but similar in that the frame was boost and trainer non boost. the trainer is an Elite Direto. My solution is a hack but it worked and because my frame is permanently on the trainer its not an inconvenience. I went to builders warehouse and bought some washers and spaced it out with those. maybe your bike shop has something that they could at least try to see if the problem goes away and then you can buy the proper kit. my guess is 2mm by the cassette and 4mm on the other side.

hope you come right.

SRAM or Shimano 12-speed, the adapters shouldn't be diff. I use a Shimano 105 12-speed  HG cassette on my Kickr with the 148 adapter on the one side and the thru axle adapter on the drive side and it works without issue on my Eagle AXS bike. I do have to do a bit of derailleur trim adjustment to get smooth shifting but that's to be expected.

Edit: the 148 adapter can be flipped around to be 142 compatible. My Kickr is quite old, so maybe this has changed.

Decided to move on and purchase the spacers. The bike shop is doing this as well as fine tuning everything as it should be,on and off. Atleast in this way, the install will be guaranteed.
