What do you guys think of these?  The new way to go in terms of aero wheels or just a nice concept...  The idea in aero wheels seems to be heading towards a slightly heavier but aero wheel rather than having the lightest wheel made.

Approximate Wheelset weight: 1750g

Approximate Q/R weight: 91g/set

Aerodynamically superior design yields 50% less frontal area, minimizing wind drag

That it is a marketing ploy by a very aggressive company(spaz is ultra aggressive in that dept) to resurrect the Roval brand, which they own, and which has major currency in Europe, to utilise in an attempt to sell more spaz bikes...

Tried them out for a couple of weeks, thought they were crap.Give me the lightweight wheels any day.The wheels are heavy and at the worst possible place.Rotational weight can make a difference. If you used them only for timetrial, maybe, but for everything else they were a dog.Everytime there was a acceleration in the bunch i felt like i was pulling away in 3rd gear and they don't climb well either because of the weight.there are much better wheels at the price they are asking.

Some of the Quickstep guys are riding Roval but those wheels are made by Campag and just have Roval stickers on them.

Like I said... marketing. The Roval brand means a lot in Europe... The wheels in the pic don't look like they work well, I just like wot they look like... And they now help sell spaz's

What are they selling for?

If you were to buy them here from a local dealer they would be around17k if I'm not mistaken.

I believe those are roval hubs with deep section campag rims, but they are not the roval stars.

Well then you'd be much better off with Shamal Ultra's...

A set of Easton EA90's would be cheaper...and lighter

Haha thats why I have a set of EA90SLX's.

But I havent ridden these Roval Stars in a race before.  The write up of them on the specialized web site says they're very stiff, but having such a narrow hub should actually make them pretty flexible no matter how short the spokes are.  Never mind how heavy they are.
