Willehond Posted August 2, 2008 Share Take thousands of people, throw in loads of beer, live bands and add Franck Schleck, Mark Cavendish and Gert Steegemans and you have one heck of a party! These photos are from one of the post Tour de France criteriums that took place in Heerlen. The whole route is in the city and completely barriered to prevent drunk people from stumbling onto the route. Wise move... First they had lost of sponsors (who paid the riders) and they had a TdF style caravan with people throwing loads of promotionl crap. Then the waiting started: The the riders started to warmup before the riders were officially introduced. Look Ma no helmets!!! Franck Schleck got to ride with Ms Profronde and one of the kids who won the kiddies race earlier. Mark Cavendish and Lars Boom were next. Lars did not ride the TdF, but recently won the Dutch national champs, so he is big news. (Looks like they are slightly uncomfortable with the stuff between their legs...) Should soon have an idea where I am going to live long term and will then join a club. Should help me settle. Luckily loads of action over here to help me! It is just loads of fun to see the riders pass you 40 times, once every two minutes or so. Will bring you more after the Maastricht crit on Wednesday. Vandag weer stadig begin werk, maar dis nog Augustus hier (almal is weg by die werk op verlof) so ek het 'n los minuut of sestig.
