Dirtbreath Posted August 4, 2008 Share I run tubeless rims so am lucky but had a problem a couple of weeks ago when the valve clogged up with slime and not being a removable core I was a bit stuffed. Quicly dashed up to my LBS to buy this valve which I thought would be cheap, cheap. R200! Nearly shat myself. You can do a whole conversion for that! Jules Posted August 4, 2008 Share What's the thoughts on drilling the hole in the rim to take a schrader valve bmx tjoop? ? Is there any inherent problem with schrader valves? ? ? I don't see any problem with that but ....................................... no self respecting mountain biker would ever ride a bike with Schraeder valves' date=' nearly as bad as bar ends on riser bars man [/quote'] Clearly IanJ and I have no self respect Would be interested to hear JB's view on whether widening presta rim holes to fit Schraeder is a sensible thing to do. deanbean Posted August 4, 2008 Share Used Continental "Compact 20" tubes, they have got a removable core, then used Stans, Inject it with a 15 gauge needle and a 20ml disposable syringe. Works like a charm. Our LBS in East London sold so many for ghetto tubeless the conti rep wanted to know what he was doing with them. deanbean2008-08-04 06:17:

NotSoBigBen Posted August 24, 2008 Share Just a heads up, heard of a fellow who did the real 'scrooge' cheap skate tjoopless - insulation tape with a cut out tjoop valve - had a big fall when the tyre 'rolled off' the rim. Has internal bleeding and stuff, he'll be OK!On another tjoopless note - our new tjoopless puncture 'procedure':- 1) When you notice it's going down and isn't sealing stop immediately!2) Find the offending hole, remove the thorn or whatever if necessary3) Put your finger over the hole to stop any more air escaping (preventing total airloss from the tyre and a collapse and bead 'break')4) Now decide what to do ........... use a tubeless repair if possible, inflate go The reason for this is that often the tyre ends up completely flat and 'uninflatable' before you have been able to do the necessary repair ......
