Shorten that chain two links. but I would not connect it again with a chain tool as it might yield a weak link. Get an easy link at a bike shop. If you get such a link' date=' you might end up having to remove another link.

Installing Chain Through Derailleurs<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The chain is routed through the rear and front derailleurs before being joined. It is best to first determine chain length before installing chain.

a. Shift front and rear derailleur under smallest rear cogs.

b. Pull back on rear derailleur and feed short section of chain over the tension pulley and straight to the guide pulley. The design of the Shimano ? chain requires that the connecting rivet leads the chain plate as it engages the sprockets. For Shimano ?, feed the outer plate end of the chain onto the pulleys.

NOTE: Chain should not drag on any part of the derailleur cage.

c. Pull chain behind rear cogs and then forward toward front rings.

d. Hold a short section of chain and feed chain through front derailleur cage. Turn cranks slowly as you feed chain onto smallest ring.

e. Joint chain at lower section between front and rear cogs. Use correct procedure according to brand of chain.

While you are fixing things go for the following checks as well:

a.  check you upper and lower limits on the rear derailer

b.  check that your Rear derailer hanger is aligned (And not bent )

c.  check your chain length is correct

d.  check for chain and cluster wear.

e.  check you cable stretch.

f.  Check disc brake ystem (especially the disc's trueness)

Finally, Blixem the mechanic at your LBS for good measure
