Well' date=' I live in the east and there's no-ways I'm going to drive 50km to Logwood, N/Farm or even 30km to 4/Ways when I can ride on tar road for 10km then ride on dirt fo 40, 50 70 even 100km.

I've given up putting a bike in a car to go cycle!

BUT, are you the 1st to unclip n walk at the 1st sign of a rock on a negative gradient...? Riding 100km of sand road isn't mountain biking...

I grew up in Parkhurst, one house was across the road from the spruit then the other house was three houses away (near Pirates) ...... that was sold for R90k.

We used to ide the Spriut 40 years ago. Even ride to Zoo lake through the stormwater drains. One we lauched a raft in a storm and went all the way to William Nicol, but I think only two of about six of us stayed aboard.

Fear factor - nah, we stared danger everyday and survived. The best was a foofie slide from a bluegum tree!!

Why cant the close of the spruit, make it safe again. In those days houses had their gardens right to the river, no fences, no nothing!!

Logwood' date=' NF, Groenkloof, Spruit, van Gaalens etc are all nice for their own reasons.

Personaly I'm not a huge fan of bike 'parks', seems to much like a hamster in a wheel.

Dassie likes to explore, Dassie likes to meander! Big%20smile

Logwood is a world class bike park. They have really done a fantastic job of it. I often use the park to do technical training for my high school cyclists. Thumbs up for logwood.

Digging an old thread up I know, but this is too funny....you are kidding me.....right?

No really....you must be joking!

Dont know about world class, but it is a great ride.

Was there on Sunday and alarm bells do start to ring when a few timber slats are broken. No judgment here but if they havent been repaired when I go next I will chat to someone there. Definitely worth 50 bucks.

For roadies getting in to dirt, this is the best crash (no pun intended) course you can do. Go there on a few consequtive weekends and your skills will improve soooooo much. Aim to spend at least 2 hours and go up the grades.

DB....That is actually what it would compare to on an international level.....a skills center.

Most definitely not a bikepark.

Kudos to them for making it available to us. I do think it is great that they've put in the effort!

i've yet to visit, but i believe giba gorge would be closer to what whistler is than logwood.

Giba gorge is a privately funded bike park created by a few friends that live in the area around Hillcrest. I rode there before the park opened as my family live about 2km's from the entrance. It's more than a bike park!

Definitely. Logwood is more compact with obstacles coming at you all the time. Giba is more of trail vibe and is definitely prettier.

It is actually quite amazing that they can fit all those loops into such a small space at Logwood. Giba is big.
