The attitude of sticking your head in the sand is why drug use is so rife in sport. Come on. the world record broken 5 times? Yeah sure.. It was their training and "organic coffe". I think its good that cycling is starting to clean up. I just wonder when the other sports will...

whitesox, I hate doping as much as most people, including fand, I am sure, however we cant ignore that it is happening in all sports.

The pro sportspeople only have themselves to blame that whenever we see a stellar performance we think doping. to see 5 stellar performances in such a short period, in one event has got to get you thinking doping.

Occam's razor - based on the evidence the most obvious answer is normally the correct one.

I am sorry to say it but it is just to easy to dope. the cheats and their scientists are so far ahead of the testers

Foe Fighter, I'd agree with most of that - except the very last part -

"the cheats and their scientists are so far ahead of the testers"

When old bigmouth let the cat outta the bag at the TdF - that testers are working in tandem with pharmaceutical companies to 'mark' new product for detection purposes...... we'll, now we got a game on.

Couple that with the FBI investigation in to Conti et al, and we can see that this is finally moving beyond the boundaries of sporting governing bodies, and into mainstream, where law and order is a real issue, and offenses are not simply met with a 2 year ban, but more likely to result in 'go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect R200....' - dealing in drugs has consequences, whether they're disco biscuits or PEDs

If you actually read what I wrote you will realise I am not sticking my head in the sand...

I am not saying all those athletes are clean, in fact I believe that some of them are doping for sure.

What pisses me off is your attitude towards the whole thing. Acting like doping is a prerequesite for good performances.

The 4x 100m is the highlight of swimming at the games, the winning nation is considered to have the world's best swimmers, almost regardless of the rest of the medals. So records will be broken and have been broken many times. And yes, swimmers will and are doping.

Implyimg that to perform well you NEED to dope. Thats ignorant!!!Angry

Four scenarios:

1. Swimmers must be much smarter than cyclists. There have only been a handful of positive tests in swimming in the past few years.

2. Swimming isn't testing its swimmers rigorously.

3. Swimming is testing its swimmers rigorously, but keeping the results quiet...

4. The suits really are that effective.

They aren't, there was no "secret molecule". It was WADA talking out of their asses again.

I never said or assumed that those 5 records were all broken by people who are just eating barley green and drinking herbal tea.

Quite the contrary actually.

but maybe you are just a little too stupid to read my posts and you make your own assumtions about what I said.
