On the ride into work this morning I came across a whole lot of sewage flowing into the spruit, just downstream of the field 'n study, opposite the Riverclub Golf course. So ride slow through the marsh or you could wind up with a mouth full of sh1te.

I reported the problem to Johannesburg Water (011)688-1500. Let's see how long it takes to get sorted...

Just had my first ride over the new bridge... Great job Danger Dassie!!! I stopped at the bridge to have a good look and everyone that rode over commented on it being fixed!

Thanks again! Thumbs%20Up

Coolnes, glad the planks are still there LOL

Actually we need to put some more nails in, the nails were put in at opposing angles to make pulling them up more difficult.

2 left, 2 right and 2 centre.

Caxton publish most if not all the "suburb" papers and they generate a lot of neighbourhood skinner so they are a great place to improve the image of mountain bikers on the spruit and other areas.

What I would like to achieve first is to document what is in place and it's current condition. First port of call is to repair and maintain what is there that is a safety hazard to all users.

City Parks are starting to take a more active role in their areas and I think by stroking their egos a bit we can get a lot more done. There has been a change in guards at Parks and from my brief discussion this morning the friendly attitude this guy had was amazing.

I just started at JCP (4 weeks ago) and I can tell you the "can do attitude" is infectious. Its amazing to see people so dedicated to greening Joburg and providing a great service. I guess it all boils down to having a great management team.

GOOD JOB, Jo'burg Watersmiley32.gif. Rode into work this morning to see that the sewage issue has been sorted! Not too shabby me thinks since it was less than a weeks turn around time.

Not sure if it was JW or other riders who have also sorted out the small water issue just upstream of the sewage, but thanks again.

Rode the renovated bridge yesterday & thanks to all who put the time in to fix it.   smiley20.gif Super_mil2008-08-25 00:53:24

Take a bow DD and Nancy.

I ran into the person that heads up the Braamfontein Spruit trust yesterday just upstream from the bridge. She was very complimentary about the mountain bikers for doing that so take a bow.

There were some issues that she had against some of the other bikers that try to run the walkers and dog walkers off the road. We are going to try and educate some of those that are not affiliated to any of the clubs that the walkers have right of way and to ride around them otherwise I can see there is going to be a problem in the future for all of us.

We also need to educate some of them that they also need to keep to the left believe it or not!!! Dumbasses.
