Triumph1 Posted January 11, 2009 Share Hi AllAt the time the article was written Peter was on life support and knocking on deaths door .He was fighting for his life and not thinking of sueing anyone.I find it very strange that you ripp into the credibility of the paper and then blindly believe what they print !!!! He spent 6 weeks in ICU and a further 3 months in rehab.He is still having rehab as an outpatient.Since the accident not one of you so called caring fellow cyclists have paid him a visit to see if all the reports were true. Peter has been called a wanker .ponns ,****, idiot etc by members of this forum .All whilst he was fighting for his life ????? and not able to state his case .Well done all of you . When I fall (which I might add is fairly often)' date=' I blame myself, why, because I either made a dumb-assed mistake, or rode something beyond my skill level. This is why he has been called all the names in below. Because it seems he isn't one for taking responsibility for his actions. As said already there is no sympathy for people who bring it upon themselves. Jeez, i always took the route there, know your limits. We are a sympathetic bunch actually, truly. If you re read many of the posts, you will see that Peters wife was directly quoted by the paper as saying that they were looking to sue... Understandable emotion at the time from her, but still wrong as far as many of us were concerned. I assume this did not happen. I tend to agree that many got it wrong by insulting Peter himself as it seemed fairly obvious that he was in no state to be thinking about suing anyone himself. I hope Peter recovers fully and rides a bike again. I also truly hope that he and his family accepts that this was just an accident, a terrible one for sure, but an accident nevertheless, and that they move on.... Dirtbreath Posted January 11, 2009 Share Triumph, I am very happy to hear that Peter is recovering and wish him the best for what will be a difficult journey. I think the negative feedback that was generated has been in the making for some time. The Spruit is used by a wide range of riders and some do enjoy obstacles which they have erected for their own challenge and others are free to make use of these structures. These structures have been removed because of this and other accidents. Right or wrong I cannot say. I personally enjoyed this and other obstacles which are no longer there or others which were to be erected.
