Duh! Carousels go counter-clockwise. Merry-go-rounds go clockwise.

Hi All

At the time the article was written Peter was on life support and knocking on deaths door .He was fighting for his life and not thinking of sueing anyone.I find it very strange that you ripp into the credibility of the paper and then blindly believe what they print !!!!

He spent 6 weeks in ICU and a further 3 months in rehab. He is still having rehab as an outpatient.Since the accident not one of you so called caring fellow cyclists have paid him a visit to see if all the reports were true.

If ther is anyone to be sued it would most likely be the Sandton Council as they told the responsile people to remove the obsticle. They sould have followed up to see that it was done.

Peter has been called a wanker .ponns ,****, idiot etc by members of this forum .All whilst he was fighting for his life ????? and not able to state his case .Well done all of you .

All I am saying is get the facts first then comment .

No WRONG. The point is that he should hold himself responsible. When I fall (which I might add is fairly often)' date=' I blame myself, why, because I either made a dumb-assed mistake, or rode something beyond my skill level. This is why he has been called all the names in below. Because it seems he isn't one for taking responsibility for his actions.

TAKE FREAKING RESPONSIBILY FOR YOUR ACTIONS AND STOP BLAMING OTHERS.

I honestly thought that this thread was dead and burried and am frankly not even going to re read the whole thing.

As said already there is no sympathy for people who bring it upon themselves. Jeez, i always took the route there, know your limits.

We are a sympathetic bunch actually, truly. We have had utmost symapthy for victims of hit and runs, bike jackings etc. stupidty however, afraid not

Im really pleased that Peter is recovering. After all, no one wishes a fall like that on anyone.

If you re read many of the posts, you will see that Peters wife was directly quoted by the paper as saying that they were looking to sue... Understandable emotion at the time from her, but still wrong as far as many of us were concerned. I assume this did not happen.

I tend to agree that many got it wrong by insulting Peter himself as it seemed fairly obvious that he was in no state to be thinking about suing anyone himself.

I hope Peter recovers fully and rides a bike again. I also truly hope that he and his family accepts that this was just an accident, a terrible one for sure, but an accident nevertheless, and that they move on....

Again you can't read .Peter has never said he is going to sue anyone .He is trying to learn how to walk again and how to hold a pen again and hopefully go back to work .Sueing is the last thing on his mind!

Everyone knows he made the choice to ride over the ramp .Does that give you the right to judge him?Get the facts, then comment !

Triumph, I am very happy to hear that Peter is recovering and wish him the best for what will be a difficult journey.

I think the negative feedback that was generated has been in the making for some time. The Spruit is used by a wide range of riders and some do enjoy obstacles which they have erected for their own challenge and others are free to make use of these structures. These structures have been removed because of this and other accidents. Right or wrong I cannot say. I personally enjoyed this and other obstacles which are no longer there or others which were to be erected. The enjoyment that these obstacles provided cannot however be weighed up against the terrible misfortune that has befallen Peter.
