I have recently purchased enough bits and pieces to be able to put together my first basic bike.  For those members who can't spend a fortune but want to get into the sport with something entry level, it is possible thanks to this forum. I have spent about R2500 (including the cost to build the bike done by one of the hubbers) to assemble my bike (RC3000 with Tiagra group set). I rode it this last Sunday (even in the crappy weather) and she went great.

There is always a risk when trading on this forum and I was one of those who regularly visited the site but have never bought anything.  However I believe that positive experiences like I have had will encourage those who are a bit unsure. My thanks go to Conti, Savage, Steynja and Workshop, doing business with you has been  real pleasure. It also goes with my thanks to this forum as well.

Great first post,, Western Flyer.

I bought my mountain bike off The Hub in March this year and can honestly say that I didn't have any of the drama that I've read about on here recently.

Happy riding :)

Ok ok, I will take a picture (on the couch) tonight and see if I can post it tomorrow.  The group ride on the 6th??  I have seen some of the posts, but can't remember seeing where it starts or ends.  Don't be misled by my alais, I live on the West but definitely no Flyer.  I am easing into this sport right now.  Sunday was my first ride in about 18 months. Don't know how far I rode (maybe 20 km's) but I was in the saddle for about an hour.

Well done WF. I can't wait to see the pictures.

Here is is picture as promised.  Sorry for the quality I had to be quick in taking a pic with the bike on the couch.  The wife was not too impressed when I told her that I was getting a bike last week.
