Tried that GFishy' date=' but the thought of buying someone to ride my beautiful carbon baby is very disturbing...[/quote']

You tried that?

You got someone to ride your bike and claim the result...?

Hope you don't do the same to wife/girlfriend...

You can have the best of everything - but that won't make the bike move...

Healthy body and mind does wonders.

(but a nice bike does make you feel better)

1)Frame

2)Wheels

3)Groupo

Frame - because you can upgrade around it therefore a great frame with medium wheels and Gruppo can be upgarded over time as cashflow allows.

Wheels- as per above

Gruopo - A well serviced and meticulously set up Midrange level Groupset will perform just as well as a top end groupset.

In my humble opinion.

No just tried the thought of someone else riding my bike. didn't go down well...

With the wife the result was easy to claim, a paternity test will do that for you :-)

There was an article on this in the RIDE magazine a few months ago (I'll reference it later) where they built up a bike for R20,000.

They advised splitting your budget in thirds.

1/3rd on the frameset, fork, bars, stem, seatpost

1/3rd on the Groupset, accesories, saddle, pedals

1/3rd on the wheelset, tyres

The bike they built up was a BMC Aluminium frame, with easton EC70 Fork, 105 groupset, and Fulcrum wheels
