Can I ride in fun-ride start group if I am licence

Jedi question just confirms why so many riders actually have licenses,not to ride in that category but rather for the early start, no wonder one finds so many licensed riders on the road when we the social bunches comes past.

 

The issue about licensed guys riding in open bunches when money is available is very true, check the results of these races and you soon see who the culprits are.

Joss is correct, the UCI rules say NO.  THerefore if you ride as a fun rider you will be CHEATING.  Now CHEATING is something that seems to be wrong (from the many postings on the hub), but considering the replies on this thread, the jury is still out on this infraction.  Doping is also CHEATING and so is riding licenced when you have a lifetime ban,  but these are a little mores serious than starting as a fun rider (although CSA may disagree).

 

If you a licenced rider and want to ride for fun, rather go and train somewhere else, and save the entry fee.

 

(PS you agreed to this when you applied for your licence, so don't mope about it)

porky it is a licenced RACE that starts at 11 AM and a fun RIDE that starts at 6:30 AM.  If you are licenced then you RACE at 11 AM (or go training some where else), if you cyclosport or less then you start at 6:30, "ride in the sun, have a beer at the end, tell all our mates how good we are and go home for sunday lunch with the wife and kids"

Not a personal atack Jedi. Interesting how many people just joined licensed so that they actually start earlier and don't have to qualify to start if the earlier groups, but when they change the times around, they want to move back to what is convenient for them.

Part of the problem could be when entering online and selecting the lic box. The cyclosport lic gives you option in 99% of races of rding lic categories, i think even the recent Vets super series you could do this.
