Afternoon all

I just been sitting here and wondering what is the diffrence between the two ?? what are the amount of teeth on the big blade and the small of a normal crank and that of a compact set.

My hill climbing sucks and i really struggle going up LOLLOLDead  Would it benifit me to get compact cranks in any way ??? I have a Ultegra groupset but for the life of me i dont know if they are compact or not EmbarrassedEmbarrassed

Hi There

My new bike came witha compact 34/50 with a 11-23 at the back.

Up the hills is really easy now.

Apparently most bikes these days are coming out with compacts as standard so u dont have to grind big gears.

Look at your front blade and there should be a number on it somewhere.

if it is a 53 then it is not a compact.

Please don't be mistaken......It won't be like a WOW difference. I changed from 175mm normal cranks to 170mm compacts.....do I feel a difference? Um.....besides the fact that I felt a bit lower, not really. I still suffer on hills. I didn't do it cos I wanted help on the hills, we were looking for the right size lenght and it happened that the ones we found were compact and carbon....
