In March this year I had problems with my heart (at 27 years old!) and knew I was going to be out of cycling for a long time. So I decided to get a new bike, Retail therapy (NOT covered by medical aid).<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Just over 6 months later, thousands of South African Rand spent, many hours talking nonsense in bike shops, and this is the result.

Many thanks to all who were involved, especially Deidre for allowing me to turn the dining room into a workshop and the kitchen sink into a wash-bay.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments!

Slowpoke, doing much better thanks - Recovery is a slow, frustrating process though...

TarmacPro, No didn't race yesterday, but looking to do some rides towards the end of the year.

Carlo' date=' have you weigh the bike on a stand scale? It would be interesting to see how far off you calculated weight is to actual weight. [/quote']

I weighed everything, but you might notice a little * next to the frame weight. I worked this out from the total weight that was measured on a stand scale.

Looks nice. But I don't think the skewers are only 45g. Maybe each but not for both. Buy the Zero Gravity callipers from Spinnekop and drop some more. Get the alu headset spacers from Kiwi and save a bit there aswell.

KCNC Skewers were definately 45g.

22g for the front, and 23g for the rear.

Their website claims 44g

Ja, was thinking of dropping more weight, but it rides (and stops) really well, so dont fix it, if it aint broke! Thanks for the advice though

Was thinking of matching the bars and stem to Easton as well...

Easton EC90 SLX3 bars: 205g

Easton EA90 Stem: 130g

would save about 130g, but the K-sword stuff gets a lot of compliments, and is great to ride with.
