I like to support Silverback because it is South African made and bang for y ou buck. But that is just me. All my cycling safari rental bikes are Silverbacks

Looks like it's got a ding in the down tube smiley2.gif

jokes aside, if you heard Silverback is SA-made, you were lied to. SA brand, yes. SA assembled, possibly. Frame, components, tyres, tubes and everything else = made elsewhere.

Good bike, good spec at a good price.

You might want to consider replacing the seat though.

I gave Silverback some serious thought when I was looking for a replacement for my ailing Giant Boulder.

I cant say for sure if the bike is MADE in SA, Its a SA owned company based in Cape Town as far as I know

Silverback is a true-blue SA brand. Proudly South African. It is however made and designed in the East. 100%

Bikes are good value for money, maybe not the best in all price classes and the brand has great local back-up with lifetime warranty on the frames.

I just did a search for the Felt Q720 and it looks pretty sweet! Their 2008 model is blue and the 2009 is an awesome white and red! Has anyone had any experience with the Q720???

A friend of mine has the 2008 Dakota, only complaint so far has been the Haynes brakes which on the 09  model they have replaced with Shimano entry level and the front derailleur which seems to malfunction every so often (could be the rider). The 09 model looks better in components than the 08, don't like the bend or as mentioned the ding in the bottom bar.

The Merida TFS500 is a very nice bike as are most of the Merida's, but Silverbacks prices make the difference.
