Which Bike Rack ?

Thug

Recommended Posts

I currently have a Thule Hang-On that my the old hardtail's top tube used to comfortably sit on.

Now with the Santa Cruz's rear shock mount being in a relatively awkward position in relation to the bars on the Thule, I have found that without wanting to scratch the frame, I have to place the bike at an awkward angle which lowers the front wheel precariously close to the road.

Question is, without spending a fortune (and I consider the price of the Thule Ride-On ridiculous) what bike-rack would you suggest that would be suitable for my new baby ?

The best - Thule Ride on Or Euro way.

Also worth looking at - Local made upright carriers....cheaper than thule.

I had the ride on when I had my superlight, works awesomely, really worth the cash........

other option would be roof racks and the thule system.....

Both Holdfast & Bike Caddy make upright carriers approx R 900 each. Only thing is that in both instances the front wheel has to be removed.

True...Thats the only negative. Otherwise those racks are quite nice. But bite down a little harder and spend the cash on the thule...you wont regret!

Only problem I saw with the Thule is that you can't use a bike rack and hitch a trailer.

Went to Linden Cycles to look at the Thule & found that they had a Trapezium rack that is similar to the Thule Eiroway i.e both wheels get tied down and a stabilising bar attaches to the seatpost or frame. The best part was that it was 80% cheaper than the Thule, so bought it.

And I can also use the towball at the same time if needed !

and I transport my tandem on trapezium. Have seen some awesome tandem racks which I would love to import but are just a little too costly. Maybe I should chat to a local manufacturer about made a RSA made tandem carrier.
