im looking for a campy 8speed hub.

my lbs says campy dont supply those anymore so if u could all dig in your spares to find one that would br great.

It is true that the principal importer of Campy doesn't bring in hubs at all. The other importer brings in hubs, various ones but not Record. The R5000+ price perhaps has something to do with it.

 

But, you're in luck. A 9-speed or 10-speed Campy hub is also an 8-speed Campy hub. The freehub body is the same for 8/9 and 10. Find any hub and you're sorted.

its for this beautiful classic, a mate lets my my son use when visiting,

its the rear wheel, 32 hole.

note the chrome bling on the front forks, amazing.

im in nelspruit but often in jhb.

not sure if theres a dif in mirage would imagine all 8 speed the same.

so if any of u have will be grt

Correction:

 

I am wrong. The spline pattern on the cassettes is different and an 8-speed cassette will not fit on a 9-speed hub and vice versa. Although the spacing is the same, Campag went to an aggressive spline when the 9-speed freehub body was made in aluminium.

 

You can however cross-breed two free-hub bodies and make a Frankenhub. 

 

Therefore, if you have an 8-speed hub and have run out of cassette options (very scarce in ZA), you should fit a 9-speed's freehub body to the 8-speed hub and so maintain the authenticity of your retro bike. No-one will notice the newer cassette.
