NCR - Some carbon fibre questions

Where can I buy carbon fibre tubing and sheets? I need a flat sheet approx 400mm x 400mm and 2 - 3 mm thick. I need a tube 10 - 15 dia and a small tube 5mm dia.

 

Further, can carbon fibre be bent by heating and folding..... same as you would bend plastic or perspex.

 

I assume Carbon fibre can be drilled, cut and sanded. I also assume that protective gear like a facemask needs to be worn.

 

Any advice or replies will be appreciated.

No it can't. Use ali. Heating epoxy (the resin used to harden carbon) completely destroys it's properties.

Die Tandem kan nie meer verder ge-bling word nie. Anycase ons twee oues sal nooit die Tandem tot sy volle kapasiteit kan benut nie.

 

Ek speel deesdae met RC Helikopters. Ek wil so bietjie CF bling op die kleintjie sit. Ek het juis vandag aluminium parte bestel uit Windhoek uit om hom beter te laat perform. Ek vlieg die ou dingetjie al te ougat!!!!! 

 

Ek het ook die' vir my bestel!!!!!!!

Rather than bending ready-made CF plates, why don't you buy some CF cloth and resin? It should be fairly simple to mold your own parts over a suitable form.

 

For suppliers, you could try one of the local canoe or rowing boat makers to find out their sources.

Just another question. Will I not need a Autoclave and vacuum pump if I make my own CF thingie. Can you just use it like Glass Fibre??????
