Energy gels: GU, Whasp, USN

guysthe green one doesnt taste good at all, we got 100mg caffeine inthere , its double that of a redbull and gaba, those 2 ingrediants taste like crap....its the best we could do to cover the taste...

 

try our new vanilla protein gel, its the best flavour we got...

 

you can now buy online from planet x bikes, click on banner from hub...

 

im desperately trying to sort dischem and local bike shops out...

Even with the crap taste i'll still use it - simply squirt the stuff into the back of your throat and then drink some water. Then hold on tight and enjoy the ride!!!!!!

I was going to say that, the taste hangs around for 10sec...but it works, isnt that the point ???

 

I mean who loves the tadte of tequilla or jagerbombs..but you still drink that...

 

maybe SA cyclists are just weak and we need to harden up ???? he hee

My only problem is knowing how much to use and when to use it on a 100k race. Because caffiene gives you a high but has a very steep drop off, meaning you can hit the wall if you don't take enough at the right intervals during a race. Do you have any recipe for consumption - maybe based on body weight & time a cyclist intends doing the race in.

Caffeine will have no effect on you hitting the wall. You can eat the whole gel. You wont even notice if and when the effects of the caffeine subsides.

Yes we have designed the gels so you dont have a drop off...you do come down but you stop back at where you started at  ?? i suggest 100mg caffeine every 2 hours, so dont take every gel as a green one, you can make every 3rd one a green one

 

OR you can take green for every gel if you can handle the buzz

becareful with that, you have an effect called gastric flushing and your bowls will open up and you will SH** your pants...

 

some people are affected more than others, try what works best for you in training or races which arent that important

This stuff works like a charm, much better then Gu in my opinion. Lasts longer and tastes better and you also get more for your money.

i tried other gels before and some of them are just really hard to swollow - which for me - is not the case with whasp. a good sip of water gets rid of of any bad taste.  for me it works well and i can certainly recommend it.

Why do people criticise this product,I mean its bigger and contain more effective ingredients than the competition yet folks say its expensive.More carbs than Vooma,more in the product than GU,yet fear remains in the potential users.

 

What were your thoughts the first time you tried GU? try it..yes KIWI isnt everybodies cup of tea but I would still be lying in a ditch next to the road if I didnt have them on hand..Lving it!
