Hi all, I sit here a little frail this evening.

I started SBR at 08:10 this morning and finished my double at just before 15:00

The wind she was so all over the place today.

Seemed like she was blowing in all directions to just keep us real interested.

I encountered some interesting people on route today with one roadie and his 9mm.Clap

I would not want to be bike jacking him and all.

I must also say that I encountered 5 riders in the wrong direction.Angry

The first seemed seriously confused and only when I asked him why he was riding in the wrong direction did he say that when he left the Gate and looked left and saw that "mother of a hill" did he decide to go right instead.

I found another pair on the Northern side on their way back and they did not look good so I recon they did the turnaround.

On loop 2 I got another dude just before the big downhill at the 30kmph sign and was not impressed.

Something told me to take it easy as I was quite tired now and after the 3rd bend I got a tonker wearing his IPOD looking at the ground riding in the middle of the road in the wrong direction.

I was screaming at him and only when I got real close did he react and almost still collided with me.

I swear that if I was not that tired I would have turned around to have a chat with him.

I do not buy the story that they did not know.

How many cars and cyclists does it take before you realize that perhaps you are in the wrong and not all of them?

What a tonker I say again

I am now more serious about getting some kind of system in place to eradicate these people from this place of cycling heaven.

All in All I must say that I had 6:45 of riding bliss even if it was tough today.

Hope you all had a good day in the saddle as well.

a little birdie told me there were some fireworks on sat morning on the nampak loop.

anyone know anything about this?

It is rumoured that some of the esteemed riders of the ASGR team' date=' rode like someone with an old women's legs, or the more favoured one - someone who has/ is returning from flu...........

hope it wasn't someone who deliberately tried to disgrace the team[img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley19.gif[/img]smiley19.gifsmiley19.gif

thought Ox was going to stay North this weekendsmiley2.gifsmiley4.gif

I have in the mean time learnt that the loop yesterday was even more hectic......... Glad I wasn't there.

Nah, wasn't checking for behaviour.

I was in the car on the way back from SBR and wanted to go check out the piece of gravel road which we gonna ride in the R4V, so no waving, just hooting.

I was there on sat, started at 7:07, and saw the first riders after the last big climb. They were all riding in right direction though.

Glad we bailed out of doing the R4V route through the reserve yesterday. That wind was awfull out in the open, but I can imagine what it must have been like inside the reserve.

Respect for battling it out 2x.

Still a goal of mine. Maybe Oct 11th.

On Saturday I went long all was well until the pro's (med scheme, helivac, etc) decided to have a pit stop after that OMG, got dropped, 3 of us formed our own group and took a short cut, the bunch caught us again and dropped us again back to the 3 man group all the way home[img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley19.gif[/img]smiley19.gifsmiley19.gif.

Long story about what happened to me.

On Friday I had a bit of a detour to the office. Suddenly remebered when I was at Rietvlei that I left my office keys in the car. Had to turn around and go back home. So insted of doing 21 km to the office on the bike, I did 33. Then I went home via SARS. That wind was really dangerous.

Sat I went on the short loop and the ride pace was great. Even managed to stay on Nish4's back wheel all the way up the steps. Turned around at the top and went back to fetch Garry. That is what happened to me Nishman. I did hang on all the way, You were so zoned into climbing those steps you never noticed anything else around you. That was some focus dude.

Saturday night I had another bout of sniffs and sneezes. Then after putting on a track suit to sweat it out, I got some nice little cramps. Left calf and right hammie. Decided maybe rest was better for Sunday and SMS'd Trubes at around midnight.

Had a nice late sleep on Sunday and only woke up at 7. Felt like half the day was gone already. Spent the day warmly wrapped up in sweats and about Mid arvie, I went out on the hybrid for about 30 minutes. Nothing hectic, just feeling the legs and trying to get a sence of the cramping. Right Hannie is still ver tender.

Spent 36 minutes on the IDT last night trying to work out some stuff with an HRM that Trubes has loaned me.

Sorry to hear about the flu dude, I know that you were looking forward to the SBR onslaught on Sunday, arnt you glad that you were spared the wind..

Kid, the long loop guys made a last minute turn to the right after the church heading up towards walkerville. The road was pretty flat but the wind was picking up, hoping that we would be turning left towards Aloe Ridge it was worth the slog. But it was not to be and the pace picked up and headed on past the squatter camp. As not wanting to be left behind we put in the extra effort.

Good to see you on Sat Shawn. It's been a while. Happy to her you are over your "injuries" and other ailments.

Nish, dude, the wind i snot a pleasant riding partner and can sometimesmake riding dangerous, butit has never stopped me fromriding altogether. Sometime in July, I went and did a solo 100 on a very windy day.

I'm of the opinion that training when it is windy can only help a lot if you are racing and it's windy. Otherwise, it just makes the legs that much stronger for race day and if the wind isn;t blowing on race day, you should manage a better race time.

Not so much "flu as a head cold. Fortunately I was able to do a farily strenous workout of the IDT last night after I sweated it out all night Sat and all day Sunday. I am more concerned with the bout f cramps at  the mo'. Will have to up my dose of slow mag.
