smiley36.gif a 900 year old bike ridden by a lunatic!!! Thats funny! Man, if they could devise a doping test for that scenario...you'd be banned for life dude!! (as would I!)

I have my doubts as to Dash's joining saturday. He's currently on the return Exodus from the Argus, on what seems to be the slowest moving train in human history.

S2L...dont be modest dude...I've seen that feral look in your eyes on the Steps!

And the Kid is holding back on us...I can feel it! One day he's gonna snap and just ride of like a man possesed! (and hopefully not puncture!) Kid, remember to pump those wheels hard dude!

Looks like I shouldn't wear my Cresta kit if I decide to join you guys on Saturday....

Nancy' date=' the Cresta bunch are only coming south on Sunday (their visa is only valid for Sundays [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley36.gif[/img]smiley36.gif) but you have an open invitation....

Thanks Indigo kid smiley2.gif  Since I was born and bred in the south I guess my visa never expires smiley20.gif

Well I was referring to you coming down south and showing GreyOwl & myself how to fix punctures  smiley36.gifsmiley36.gifsmiley36.gifsmiley36.gif

You welcome in the south any time on your mean red machine..

Soon we're gonna have to take a collection just to fund Nancy's appearance fee! Dont forget the little guys Nancy.

Thanks for the puncture repair lesson Nancy. Was very informative...as for the lecture, not so much!

Fiasm. Maybe the old wise bird has a graphic from his Garmin that he can post to highlight why they call it the steps.

Basically, from when you cross the Klip River, it goes up a bit, (Step) with a flat section (landing) and then it goes up a bit more (step) with another fat section and then it goes up a bit more and then a bit more before it flattens out. From the stop street to the bridge at the top is about 7 k's of up with a couple of small flat sections between climbs.

Strongly resembles a stair case. Going up there solo is pretty soul destroying. I need to go at it in a bunch (especially a bunch that with a few people who will push it,) because then I just focus on trying to go up faster and faster until I can't go any faster. This helps me forget the misery of climbing them.

Courage is conquering what you fear and the steps struck terror into my heart every time I went near them. That has now become determination to conquer. One day, I will maybe earn GOv2's title of king, but right now scaredy pants (ok scaredy lycra bib) is still a more fitting description.

One day,I will be brave enough to race GO up those steps.

Do you know something I don't ?

Did you pick up some vitamins from the pharmacy for me ?

Dude if I can get to ride at half your pace I'll be happy (for now) then I'll want to ride at your pace (got to have dreams!!!)

Pomped the wheels HARD on Sunday, 100km no / zero / *** all punctures (but I think it's because I got GATORSKINS again - thanks GO smiley20.gif)

This 80km Saturday ride is getting faster as the wek goes on, I just want to see the benefits of S2L's top secret traning, maybe he'll snap and just ride of like a man possesed smiley36.gifsmiley36.gifsmiley36.gif

I have BIG dreams too Kid.

Way too big, but also a tiny glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, the owl is slower on the hills than the flats. We know he can fly on the flat bits, will have to test the mettle on the steps though.

I think this arvie, (if it doesn't rain,I hitting those steps, hard. Although, maybe Butchers and Columbine are starting to pay dividends. Definitely doing some hill training today. (think I'll leave the office a bit early, do all of them. Butchers, Columbine and the steps. Just in case. Thursday, do the lido hill towards columbine. and then do butchers down and up. (Giving away my top secret training stragedy here.) St Andertons was just a nice quiet little country ride. Nothing even resembling hills there.

One thing for sure, If Nance joins in Saturday, I'm going to be watching GOv2 point oh very carefully, that red rocket too.

So, the thing is going to be very interesting. I'll be looking for a shortcut to get to the bottom of the steps frist, so I can rest the legs a bit, then take you okes on going up. I am go for launch up the steps come saturday.

You guys make me laugh! Trust me, I aint that strong. My red rocket knows it will be under surveillance....

Jeepers S2L...sounds like your prepping for some serious mountain assault with all that training! We're gonna have to watch out!

Kid...I've seen you ride dude...no chemical help needed!

S2L, if you saw GOv2 go up those steps on Saturday you would keep very quiet. GOv2 stood up & he and his red rocket were gone (maybe he has a nitrous button on his bike ??)

Thanks for the compliment but if you seen how I got dropped on Sunday you'd bring a drip.

Seeing that I've only been riding for 4 or so months, I'm probably doing ok.

But I still plan to learn a lot from you!!!!

The more you ride the more you learn dude. Getting droppped is one of the better lessons...albeit unpleasant at the time...but its school fee's dude!

No nitrous button on my bike however much I ask for one to be installed!!

The truth of the matter old wise bird is simply this.

WE enjoy riding bikes on the weekend and during the week, we wish we were riding bikes, so we just dream up all tihs K@K and spew it out because we are frustrated by not being able to do so enough during the week.

That is one version although on the other hand, we are just plain crazy and have wild and agile imaginations.

A third possibility is that we are secretly envious of certain skills we don't have and are searching for asnwers. GOv2, you are too modest dude.

Seriously, this is all my secret training for an assualt on a certain 94.7 challenge this year. I need certain skills to achieve a goal and this is all part of the process. While you're notlooking on SAturday, I'm going to affirmatively shop your legs. smiley17.gif

Any idea of how fast we gonna go on Saturday, like in numbers?

I need to know how many Bar Ones I need to buy so I can stick with you guys, coz at the mo it sounds like a 100g Bar1 every 15 minutes!
