Predictor join me for the shorter ones, learn to sprint all three disciplines. Its awesome!!! Really sorry to hear about the ITB thought you were going to help me in my first IM!! smiley19.gif

Isn't it curable though(ITB)? In my triathlon for dummies book it says its caused by increasing distance or intensity too quickly, slow down a little and stretch it out? Not an option?

I had ITB back in 2004. Had a some injection (plasma if I remember correctly, not cortisone as that didn't work) at Centre for Sports Medicine and few weeks it was all sorted.

How you doing Hummy? Haven't heard from you for ages.

IM 2010 dreams shattered!!!!smiley19.gif

Just confirmed I have full blown ITB in left knee.

Did 32km run over weekend to discover ITB at 27km into run.

Decided to test the knee Tuesday and ITB at 8km.

Seeked medical advice this morning and ITB now confirmed.

Option 1: Stop running now and work on cycling only up to IM and suffer in the run do some damage and go for an op after and take a six months recovery from all sport (did this in my first IM' date=' right knee)

Option 2: Go for op now and recover in time for MTB season. Should be ready for IM 2011

Option 3: Only work on shorter TRI's and no op needed but no more IM.

Option 4: No more running and only cycling.

I am leaning towards Option 3,

I never quit but I am just getting into my road riding and cannot lay off for 6 months now.

I think I might have done my last IM last year and perhaps can still do the shorted TRI's in future.

the upside is that ITB is not affecting my riding at all. [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley20.gif[/img]

Perhaps this is the time to start working on the sub 3 Argus and change my training plan to accomodate the shorter harder riding needed.

Eish

Jammer om te hoor tjom.

Los die hardloop en ry jou fiets. Minder seer en baie makliker!!

Sterkte met die besluit

How was riding this morning? Any of you caught in the rain?

Trubie made sure that we got some rain.

By me everything was dry, then Trubie joined me to the meeting point and he brought the rain with him.

The roads were wet majority of the way and Trubie kept spraying me with water & then the rain came down.

Got home rather wet.

After today's ride I'm glad I never did the Fast One.

So you enjoyed being sprayed? Why didn't you go ride at the front?

No. Did see that. What happened?

Nothing exciting, they just had a camera in the theatre when they operated on him for his ITB problem.

They showed it last week.

HI Guys

Need your help in replacing/knowing which type of BB my Raleigh RC6000 Aluminium 2005 model takes. The BB from the outside doesn't have the cap like the ultegra/dura-ace models so think its an internal BB. Could you please assist as when I am placing preasure on the pedal ( on hills) it makes a clicking sound.

Do you call it a OCTALINK and then how does your crank arm get fixed to the BB?

Tachy I had the same problem with my BB on my Tiagra set up. It is an internal BB by the sounds of things and isn't too expensive to replace. The little ball bearings wear the outer casing away over time. Under pressure (ie climbing) the bearings slip into the grove they have created. The click comes from coming out these groves to roll along the right path. Being internal bearings, unfortunately the whole BB needs replacing

Finally a relaxed 100 k ride this morning.

Blissful 3:24 hrs out, many stops to wait and watch flats being fixed.

Saw plenty riders out there today - wonder what they training for? A bit early for 94 isnt it?smiley2.gif
