morning all...

S2L, sorry to hear bout tenny going down, hope he recovers quick!! tell him take some good strong anti inflamatories till the swelling is down.

as for cramps, slow mag does help- its normally low magnesium and potasium that give the cramps. so a bannana when you feel it coming on is also good.

Nance, also havnt been on the bike for a week, so tom will be interesting. cant take it to slow, gotta get to work at a decent hour...

GOv2, will take a ride to start with you. will be at the robot by your place at 6:30....

I think we should all get one thing clear here spas... because you can't take it slow, doesn't mean the rest of us have to take it fast smiley2.gif

(OMG... I'm going to die aren't I?)

Simple one Nance. Since my legs have betrayed me, smiley7.gif I have no choice but to take it slow. Spaso and Owl can go for it and race it up a bit and throw in a Kid for good measure.

The rest of us can sit at the back and take a nice ride at a civilised pace. There will be other days for me to take on the bird and try to fly up the steps. (I will gove it a go tomorrow, 'pending on how the legs feel. For the rest of it, though, looks like you me and the Ox together. BTW, I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Don't let the kid's protestations fool you, he is pretty quick. Hey, let me go and get some slow mag.

Later.

Tomorrow' date=' new day, new things going down. I think, for tomorrow, you carry the torch and run the owl ragged, then next week, I'll take it over and try the same thing.

I think my body has finally let me know how old it is and is just reminding me to take it a bit easier. Probably not so much the mileage this week as last week that hastaken the toll. Did 255 k's last week. Only 146 this  week.

BTW, Kid, how you going with that training log. You got it working yet?

I thought you were going to ask me something a little more challanging but for me to run GO ragged will be a piece of cake you just wait and see.

Would you also like me to race him up the steps ?

S2L, you've got it all wrong or back to front or front to back.

What your body is actually telling you is that you need to push harder. So last week you done 225km this week you need to increase it by 10% to 250Km and what you've done is decreased the milage so now your body is confussed and is cramping.

Yip I've been logging my rides but the problem I've got is that my time doesn't decrease by 9 min each week, did you change the formulas on my spread sheet ?

Hey Nance, everyone has this thing 'bout the steps. They are really not that bad, I promise.

Long uphill climbs broken up by short (very) flat bit between the steps. I used to panic about them too, but the more I ride them, the more tame they become. I was shocked the first time I rode up there with a bunch and we klapped them at like 25 to 30 k's and hour. Now if I can do that, then trust me, it's not that hard. To think that I used to go yp them solo and I thought I was going fast at 18 to 22 kph's.

(I just talk a big game. I'm really just an average cyclist (ability wise).)

I'll point them out to you when we get there and if you battle, I'll help you up. You just sit on my wheel and hang on.

Typo: I did 255 k's last week. My average weekly ride distance is now 140 k's a week since 10 August 2008. It seems that every time I do more than 230 a week, something gives me grief. Glute muscles, calf muscles, thumbs, Knee or hip joints. Eish, to be 18 again (or even 30). The owl would have his wings clipped.

That formula works dude. You have to make the bike go faster to get the one eyed cat to register the higher speed. Then put the info into log and voila... ze formula, she virks. I'll prove it to you tomorrow.

okay... someone's gonna have to point out these "steps" for me... did we ride them last weekend?

Yip we rode them last week' date=' you see you didn't even notice them.

It's almost a flat piece of road [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley36.gif[/img]smiley36.gifsmiley36.gif

I'm sure the steps will be more like an escalator to Nancy. She is afterall the resident Breedts nek Hostess smiley36.gif

To put Breedts Nek into perspective, the Polar tells me that it is a 430 odd meter climb from start to end (27.5km). BUT 240 meters of that climbing is done in the last 5 km smiley19.gif

smiley36.gif  That was probably where I started lagging behind a bit (Joe Low kindly stuck with me).... probably where I started feeling light headed because I didn't have enough time to have breakfast smiley9.gif

It's where GreyOwl vanished into the distance.

You remember where you done your dash and left all of us behind ?

Then we went over the highway and turned left at the 4 way stop, from there to the next left turn (BP garage on left hand side), those are the steps.

Nancy, best you have breakfast tomorrow, you may need to tow S2L and we going to be doing around 80km.

Kid. You seem to be taking over where I left off with that foot and mouth problemo.

Shhhh. Don't frighten Nance. It took a lot of convincing by the owl to get her to agree to ride tomorrow. Now you wanna undo all that hard work?

Hey Nance, Kid's just teasing you. It really is not as bad as it sounds. The long loop is a doddle. Mostly flat with a couple of long climbs. Steps and Lido hill south. Everything else is a breeze and the steps aint so bad either. Fortunately, the Lido climb is early in the ride when the legs still feel like legs. The steps, walk in da park.

Breakfast is good though, highly recommended.
